My favorite dog training products

Dog training can feel overwhelming, but knowing which products to get makes it a whole lot smoother! Over the years, I've tried all kinds of things, from beds to leashes, and now I can confidently say that I have some tried and true go-to's.

The only E Collar we use is the Mini Educator E Collar. Think of this tool as your training assistant - a Bluetooth leash - your ticket to off-leash adventures - and a communication tool to say no to things like barking without yelling at your dog. And we made the ultimate guide to E Collar training, perfect for beginners! Our E Collar Starter Guide now including videos to guide you through each phase.

If you want to get started with the Place Command, we recommend using a raised dog bed - here's my favorite one. The great thing about a raised dog bed is that it gives very clear boundaries for your dog, and with a regular cozy dog bed, the boundaries are blurry.

Watch the video below to see how I introduce place to a dog who is new to the command.

I've used a lot of long-line leashes, and this one is the best I’ve used - My Favorite Long Line Leash. It's 15 feet long, and you can make it longer if you'd like. It's super lightweight and comes in many colors. Using a long-line leash is perfect for off-leash practice, and you can give your dog more freedom with a safety net. We have a Long-Line section in our E Collar Starter Guide along with videos where you can hear when I’m using the E Collar for recall.

To get the best fit for your dog's E Collar, we recommend using a Bungee Collar. Our favorite ones are from Adventure Hound Customs.

Aside from the E Collar, one of my favorite training tools is the Prong Collar - we get ours from a small business in Chattanooga, Tennessee. We also love the Prong Collar Buckles from Katie's Buckles.

I love taking pictures of dogs - I send them to owners, use the pictures for social media and add them to my training guides. My favorite camera is the Sony A7iii. It takes the best pictures and I can send them straight to my phone. Love how easy it is!

Once you go hands-free you won’t go back. These leashes are my very favorite and we now offer them in our store (linked here). They are lightweight, easy to clean and it will help you get that much closer to your off-leash goals. Check them out in our store to see our color combos, unique to Walking Dog Training.

Want your dog to have a little cushion in their kennel but not a dog bed that they can chew up? Check out these Primo Pad Kennel Pads - I swear by them! Waterproof and super durable.

Working with dogs that are whiney can really mess with you, which is why this next product is something I can now not live without - my noise cancelling headphones.

If you know me at all, you already knew my Favorite Dog Walking Hat would make the list. I have so many of these hats and love the different designs. It protects me from the sun and adds style to my dog walks. You won’t catch me outside without one.

And last but not leash - our training guides! That’s right - they are definitely on the list. Why? Because I believe SO strongly that they can help you with your dogs. We have a few different guides: our E Collar Starter Guide is our OG guide that helps you get started with the E Collar. After that we have our Reactive Dog Handbook and our NEW Guide to Separation Anxiety. These guides are made for YOU. From total newbie to someone who has been using the E Collar for a while now.

Not sure which guide is best for you? Check out this blog post where I can help you.

Hope this was helpful! Love, Bethany
